Laura Markoya is the Associate Clinical Director at TreeHouse Health.
She is a licensed clinical social worker with diverse experience working with adults, children/adolescents/teens, individuals, couples, and families. She believes in a holistic therapeutic approach focusing on “the whole client” and their goals and strengths. For almost 20 years, Laura has been helping people who are hurting emotionally.
While she continues to work with clients with many different needs, some of her specialties include working to help clients cope with trauma, sexual trauma, attachment disruptions (adoption/foster care), fertility issues, and those involved with the juvenile criminal justice system. Additionally, Laura is well-versed both personally and professionally with the extremely unique needs of those that are first responders: in particular, law enforcement and their families. She also spends time in the summers working with an organization that serves families of officers killed in the line of duty. Laura believes that her understanding of the profound yet often isolating stress facing law enforcement and their families, along with her compassionate and direct approach to therapy, has earned her the respect of the first responder community.
Laura received her Masters degree from Loyola University Chicago and enjoys continuing to expand her education at every opportunity. She utilizes a trauma-informed and attachment-focused approach to therapy, but provides multi-dimensional care that is tailored to meet each client’s needs.
Her goal is to help you better understand the problems you are facing and assist in finding healing solutions that work best for you. Laura sees therapy as an opportunity for personal growth and understanding, and she feels blessed to be able to assist clients on their personal journey.
Laura grew up in Chicago and now lives with her family in the northwest suburbs. She loves the hot weather we have here in Chicagoland, however short, and enjoys exploring the outdoors. Laura is lucky enough to have a job that she loves where she can use her skills to offer hope and healing to those that are ready to join her. She looks forward to meeting with you and starting to work together!
